Woodward is committed to Reaching, Teaching, and Nurturing every student.
Woodward is a 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit Corporation and a P.L. 853 Non-Public School approved by the New York State Education Department that provides a supportive therapeutic learning environment. We strive to reach, teach, and nurture each student within the context of a challenging academic program. An emphasis is placed on the values of empathy, citizenship, self awareness, and engagement. Each student’s progress is closely monitored so that individual needs are addressed and goals are achieved.
The special education classifications of students at Woodward include Other Health Impairment, Emotional Disability, and Autism.
Woodward has 80 full time students, Ages 5-21
There are ten homerooms with 8 students in each class. Each classroom has a Special Education teacher and a Teacher Assistant. Woodward offers courses that align with New York State Education requirements. Each student is provided individualized instruction to meet their needs, helping each student reach their maximum potential.
The services that Woodward provides are Individualized and differentiated instruction in small classes (8:1:1), individual and group counseling, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, ENL, reading, and social skills instruction. Clinical staff are available throughout the day to provide support to students whenever necessary. Parents can attend monthly parent meetings to receive education,training, and collaborate with school staff.
